Religious Scholar gives his assessment of the meaning of Confederate iconography at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Richmond

http://openfriendshipinaclosedsociety.blogspot.com/2015/08/signs-of-crimes-and-forgiving-victim.html

The above is the link. The reassessment of church's connections to the Confederacy is happening.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church is the church I wrote back in 2014. They first decided to disinvite the United Daughters of the Confederacy, then they decided to assess their Confederate imagery in the Church.

The correspondence and news articles can be read at this link.

Presidents, Presidential candidates and Mitt Romney opinions of the Confederate flag

First there is this report that President Obama said that the Confederate flag belonged in a museum.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-33205363

Mitt Romney has come out against the Confederate flag. This has put the Republican presidential candidates on the spot because they are now being asked questions.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2015/06/20/how-mitt-romneys-opposition-to-confederate-flag-just-put-the-current-gop-presidential-candidates-on-the-spot/

Before I go further I would like to point out that I have been mailing the presidential candidates questionnaires as they announce and their campaign mailing address becomes available in the Federal Election Commission reports.

The questionnaire is in this blog posting.
http://newtknight.blogspot.com/2015/05/questionnaire-for-2016-presidential.html#.VYYMHPlVikp

Back to the Washington Post article, the Republican Presidential candidates are mostly saying that it is up to the people of South Carolina to decide. This is a clever avoidance of the issue. Yes, it will be up to the people of South Carolina to decide, but a presidential candidate or anyone else can say whether it would be a good idea or not.

This is another article on how the Republican presidential candidates are trying to side step the issue.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/ct-confederate-flag-debate-20150620-story.html

The real issue is that the Republican candidates have a significant portion of their base which is attached to the Confederacy.

Some other candidates and links.

Here is Jindal avoiding taking a stand.

John Kasich doesn't want to engage the issue here.
